Lag Ba'Omer Festivities

Bonfires lit up the night all around the Yeshiva campus on the evening of on Lag Ba’Omer, the day marking the end of the plague among the students of Rabbi Akiva and the yahrtzeit of Rabbi Akiva’s prize student, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. After the central Yeshiva bonfire was lit, where Rosh Kollel for Dayanut Rav Binyamin Be'eri reflected upon the import of the day, the Overseas talmidim had special programming at their own bonfire. Rosh Yeshiva Rav Elgazi lit the flame and shared his thoughts for the occasion, and then Rav Bannett, an accomplished musician, set the tone for the evening with song and divrei Torah. A fireside barbecue helped to fill out the evening.
