In honor of the eightieth birthday of Rav David Kav shlita, the yeshiva published the sefer Birkat David, a compilation of shiurim that Rav Kav delivered in the yeshiva. Rav Kav's present and past students came together to celebrate the occasion at a special evening in his honor in Kislev 5776. Speakers included the Rosh HaYeshiva, Rav Mordechai Greenberg, Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, Rav Binyamin Beeri, Rav Dr. Meir Grossman (who was Rav Kav's chavruta for many years), Professor Yisrael Tzvi Gilat, Rav Kalman Meir Ber (Chief Rabbi of Netanya), Rav Michael Brom (President of Yeshivat Shilo), and Rav Netanel Berkowitz. Rav Kav spoke about the importance of siyata deshmaya in learning, citing examples of chiddushim that were developed in the yeshiva in which he has spent most of his life - Yeshivat Kerem B'Yavneh.
